We started the car 8am in Copenhagen yesterday, was pretty damn rainy day but the motorway traffic was fairly good so we could keep up the good pace, not much to say about the Denmark part, just driving through the country, we didn't take the ferry connection. About noon we entered to Germany and naturally the driving culture changed a bit.
Immediately after passing the border, it was just like cows were released to the grass fields after loong winter and when the first nolimits mark came, people really pushed the pedal down. Its of course nice to have unlimited areas on the motorway but it really needs at least three lanes. If there are only two lanes, you have to scare lorries and other slower stuff to pull out on your way. Three lanes is always nicer, but it still needs helluva lot of space to drive 200kmh+ because still, its fricking mad feeling to pass other cars at speed difference of 80kmh+. Car was actually very good to drive in those speeds, side wind of course was bit annoying but otherwise, no worries.
But is it really faster to move from place a to b without limits. No its not. There is always someone faster or slower than you, and you have to pump the speed up and down all the time. you drive 3min 200kmh and after that you stand on the brake pedal and wait that the lorry takes over another lorry. Distressing I would say. Speed limits also makes the traffic smoother. But shit about that now. Hope I can nail the top speed tomorrow!
